The pink ribbon, the symbol for breast cancer awareness, was invented in 1991 by Evelyn H. Lauder, founder & president of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and Alexandra Penney, then-editor of Self Magazine. Lauder says, "The ribbon stands for awareness.
